Poodle skirts were very frequent in the 1950s. Young girls and young women wore the skirts often. They were considered a “must-have” fashion for young females. Older women stayed away from poodle skirts, opting rather for a more mature look. But 1950 female fashions offered something for women of all ages.

1950s Female Fashions

Young females were fond of poodle skirts and saddle shoes. The two were many times worn together. Sometimes a neck scarf and bobby socks finished the ensemble. Bobby socks were merely thin, white socks that had a roll down cuff. The cuff was ordinarily thicker than the sock portion that went on the foot. They looked nice with saddle shoes.

Tight-fitted Capri pants were likewise popular. In the movies, bad girls were in general depicted wearing these pants. During that time, women were still expected to wear skirts and dresses. So the pants were oftentimes seen as a rebellious fashion statement. Over time, the pants became more worthy of acceptance or satisfactory and a regular share of fashion. The Capri pants permitted women to ditch the skirts, but to maintain their effeminate qualities.

Flat shoes were ordinary as well for young girls. The flats looked good with Capri pants and skirts. The shoes were worn with casual wear. But the shoes were neat sufficient to wear to church and other more formal occasions.

Cat eye classes were popular eyewear. They had thick rims, and the arms and lenses connected at the top corners. This resulted in a slanted look, similar to a cat’s eyes. Older women dressed more conservatively. Knee length dresses and skirts were popular. Low to mid-length heels were worn most often.

One thing is clear, the 1950s were a time before tennis shoes and jeans became the norm. Women back then dressed to impress. They would not wear anything that looked frumpy or messy. Even if not one thing special was happening, the women looked presentable and ready to go.

shoes run small

i am not so happy with my purchase, basi of all there are no remarks to say rather the shoes run big or small, there are no half sizes which would have been very helpful in this circumstance for they were a gift but even so if it was for me the same would be true. then when i contacted the marketer i was told there would be a 15% restocking fee. well, by the time i mailed them back and remunerated for that, salaried for insureance, which they commend and the 15% restocking fee it’s not worth my time to have to wrap the shoes and mail them back. if amazon has clients begin with this restocking fee i will not be using them any longer to do my shoping. very unhappy regarding this, i feel ripped off for sure

Great Saddle Shoes!

I was looking to buy a pair of saddle shoes for daily wear, and these shoes do the occupation perfectly! I’ve worn these shoes almost each day since I got them and I have yet to experience any pain. My feet ordinarily hurt by the end of the day because of my flat arches but these shoes do not bother my feet at all, nor do they rub my heel or feel tight. They were unfeigned to size and everyone seems to like them. They also are very cute and have a bit more of a foot shape to them then galore other pairs out there. My only thing to say with regards to them is that they have scuffed finelooking without apparent effort so far but I plan on taking a magic eraser sponge to them and Im beauteous sure they will take the marks right off. Overall very comfortable and cute shoes!
