Slippery footing
By G. Naylor
Yes, this will protect your shoes from scuffs, BUT… the plastic covers on the underside, which protect the Shubandit straps from wear when walking around are very slippery. This is a little problem when walking around, but a much more prominent problem when putting your left foot down on the pavement at a traffic light, or even worse when stopped on a hill. If I keep using this product, I will cut those off and just receive more rapid wear.

There’s a better way
By P. Ellis
I’m going to save a lot of you some money. Instead of getting this scuff protector, just get a lot of 1″ wide velcro and a good deal of gorilla glue. Cut 2 3-4″ strips of the velcro (the fuzzy side) and place it on the bottom and front of your shifter. After you’re sure it covers everyplace your boot/shoe would touch, use the gorilla glue to put it in place. Let it arid for 3-4 hours and you’re good. No more scuff marks on your footgear. No hassle putting something on and storing it. And you may wash it with your bike. I’ve had the velcro on mine for 6 months now with no problems. You can’t even see it unless you get right up to it. Even then, it doesn’t look bad.

Mostly works as advertised
By squid_brain
Like various others, my biggest issue with this product is that the two plastic bottom pieces are ridiculously slippery. You have no traction at all with the front half of your foot (I closely fell just walking). I did multiple laps around a parking lot attempting to scrape them up for better traction, in addition to dragging my foot back and forth when sitting at lights- so far, no real difference, altho I figure ultimately it will help. I would suggest scuffing them up at least a little before wearing them for the original time. Or just cutting them off exclusively and leaving the elastic uncovered. The elastic will wear faster, but if you don’t intend to walk to a great extent in them, or remove them when you do get off the bike, then it will have to last a great deal long.
The whole thing is a little bulky overall, and yet it also seems to scarcely fit more spectacular sized boots. I wear a size 11 in women’s and it’s a stretch to get it over the back of my boot.
It does protect your shoe from gear-shift wear, however, as advertised.
